Zante, sometimes known as Zakynthos, is a beach lovers paradise. Zante has spectacular swathes of flat golden sand lapped by crystal clear waters. Zante probably has some of the best beaches in the whole of Greece making it perfect for family holidays.
Towering white cliffs conceal secluded beaches of golden sands and spectacular Blue Grotto Caves where translucent turquoise waters provide some excellent snorkelling. The sands of Kalamaki and Gerakas are home to nesting Caretta turtles and on the stunning sands of Smugglers Cove lies one of Zante's most spectacular sights, its famous sunken shipwreck.

Alykes / Alykanes
The neighbouring holiday resorts of Alykes and Alykanes are perfect for a relaxing family holiday. The village of Alykes offers several tavernas, supermarkets and a handful of lively bars with a small fishing harbour only about a 15 minute stroll away in Alykanas. These two resorts share a beautiful pale sandy beach and are on the north east coast of Zante with views across to the nearby Greek island of Kefalonia. The capital, Zante Town, is a twenty minute drive away.
Kalamaki
The endless golden sands at Kalamaki are a breeding ground for the famous Caretta turtles. Children will love the safe swimming from this un-spoilt beach, which runs south all the way to Laganas. Holiday accommodation in Kalamaki is well spread out among the olive groves, and the resort is only a short transfer from Zante airport. Some aircraft noise may well be noticed, but there are no night flights. Kalamaki has friendly bars, offerring quiz and karoke nights and traditional restaurants which serve some of the best food on the island.
Nightlife in Kalamaki is failrly low-key but it is close to Zakynthos Town, which is only a short taxi ride away.
Laganas
Zante's largest resort of Laganas lies of the south coast, and its main attraction is the amazing 3 mile stretch of soft golden sand where there is plenty of watersports and safe swimming in the warm shallow water. Laganas is also the summer nightlife capital of the island and it gets very busy in the high season. Laganas has an extensive choice of beachside tavernas, restaurants, cafes, bars, nightclubs and discos. It's about twenty minutes by bus to Zante Town.
Tsilivi
With the soft sands stretching for nearly a mile around the gently curved bay, busy Tsliivu is growing into one of the most popular holiday resorts on Zante. But it still manages to retain some of its village charm. The atmosphere is relaxed with watersports, Greek tavernas, restaurants, mini-markets and a few lively bars near to the beach.
Vassilikos
The beautiful and tranquil peninsula of Vassilikos lies south of Zante Town. Lovely sandy beaches fringe the coastline, offering excellent familiy bathing in the clear shallow waters. There are watersports and sunbeds to rent. Many of these beaches shelter nestling Caretta turtles and are protected within Zante's National Marine Park. Dotted amongst the olive groves, small villages offer restaurants and tavernas and there is also a regular bus service into Zante Town.
