Skiathos is a beach lovers paradise, lying just off the eastern coast of Greece and it is the perfect destination for sun-worshippers and Skiathos boasts over 60 beaches in total along its golden sandy shores.
In the north of Skiathos, the contrasting coastline is a mix of Byzantine monastries, soaring white marble cliffs and secluded craggy coves. Lively Skiathos Town is the hub of the island, an enchanting maze of narrow streets, traditional tavernas and an old port where chic bars line the steps to the lapping waters of the waterfront.
The busier tourist beaches that lie on the southern coast of Skiathos are perfect for beach hopping and exploring. All the beaches are linked by the islands cheap bus service than runs between Skiathos Town and the superb beach at Koukounaries, which is one of Greece's most famous stretches of sand. You can hire a jeep to explore isolated headlands and medieval ruins along the unspoilt northern coast or you can take a boat trip out to more remote beaches for excellent swimming and diving.
