The Greek island of Rhodes lies just off the Turkish coast but it is still very much a part of Greece. Rhodes is perfect for a relaxing holiday in the sun. It is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands and it has the reputation of being the sunniest of all the Greek islands. It is home to some of Greece's most beautiful scenery and beaches and Rhodes also has a fascinating history.
Most of the major resorts on Rhodes are found along the north and east coasts. This is where the islands beaches are most spectacular. Each resort has its own individual flavour, so whether you are looking for a relaxing family holiday or if you are looking for non-stop partying then the holiday island of Rhodes has something for everyone.
But Rhodes is not just about sunbathing, sand and sea. Rhodes has a rich and varied history and it would be a shame not to explore what else this fascinating Greek island has to offer.
Once guarded by the legendary Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, Rhodes Town retains its medieval monastery and well preserved Venentian castle.
