Mykonos

Mykonos is one of the most cosmopolitan of the Greek islands. It's fashionable and sophisticated. Mykonos has long been the haunt of the so called international jet-set who come to see and be seen on the beaches by day and in the trendy bars and clubs by night.   Mykonos Town is the place all the action happens. The town is a brilliant collection of cube-shaped whitewashed houses set around a pretty bay. The area is dominated by the five white windmills that sit together on a hill overlooking Mykonos Town. The other interesting part of the town is the Little Venice area. This is where fishermans houses are so close to the shoreline that they appear to rise from the sea and their flower-decked balconies extend over the water.   The most popular beach on Mykonos is Paradise Beach, which attracts the party crowd to its wide sands backed by cafes and lively beach bars. Another popular choice is Psarou whilst those in search of a more laid back experience head to Platis Gialos which is great for family friendly fun and watersports.   For a but of culture you can take a boat trip to the uninhabited island of Delos, which is a designated World Heritage site with extensive ruins which date back over 2,000 years.
